“Individual and/or collateral therapy may NOT be billed for recreational activities (i.e. swimming lessons, movies, lunch at school with the child, etc.). Neither should individual and/or collateral therapy be billed for observation of a child in a classroom” -IMPACT Plus Manual
What do you think about this?
I am interpreting this to mean that we can’t just do “observation”. We are expected to do “interventions” in the school setting and any service must include a clinical intervention. In general our work in the schools should be collateral in nature and our interventions should focus on assisting the school staff in managing the child’s behavior in the school setting.
